Systems Administrator

As part of Compass Technology Canada, this position ensures IT Infrastructure and operating systems are functioning efficiently and effectively. From major system development and implementation to daily network administration and technical support, Compass Technology Canada provides technical advice and support to over 3,000 operating units and offices across Canada.

Now, if you were to come on board as one of our Systems Administrators, we'd ask you to do the following for us:

Prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a challenging and fast-paced work environment.

• Be responsible for installing, supporting, and maintaining IT Systems.
• Implement and support a wide variety of IT systems across Canada and the US.
• Perform end of lease server replacements, including staging hardware, installing site specific applications, and coordinating cutovers while minimizing downtime for the business.
• Plan, communicate, and document system changes.
• Ensure Company standards and industry best practices are followed and improved.
• Function as a Tier 2 escalation point, provide IT support for the in-house and remote users across Canada.
• Record, track, and document the request/problem-solving process and actions taken.
• Review actionable environment alerts to maintain existing infrastructure.
• Be engaged in team project efforts for server OS upgrades, vulnerability management, application upgrades/brand new builds.

• Diploma in IT related studies with at least three years of experience in:
• Server hardware and configuration, Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, active directory administration (GPOs, understanding of replication, etc.)

Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good Experience or working knowledge of:

• PowerShell - 3+ years experience

MS Exchange

• MS IIS 7.5 and 8.5
• Office 365

Networking concepts/troubleshooting and components i.e. VLAN, Subnetting, tracert/ping commands

• VMware ESXi/vSphere
• Hyper-V
• System Centre Configuration Manager
• Enterprise Storage Systems

CommVault Simpana or similar Enterprise Backup/Recovery Systems - Bonus

Oracle's JD Edwards Enterprise One - Bonus

• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to build good rapport with customers.
• Results-driven with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Detail-oriented and accurate.

• Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new technical skills and concepts in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptable to changing work priorities.
• Available to work after-hours during maintenance windows and when emergency support is needed.
• Willing to travel (approximately 10%) and able to safely lift, up to 23kg, regularly.
