Job description

POSITION: Director of Finance and Support Services Indeterminate (Permanent) Full-time Working hours: Generally, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the authority of the Executive Director, The Director of Finance and Support Services collaborates in the development of KMHC, according to the mandates entrusted to them by the Executive Director in the achievement of the mission and strategic orientations of the organization.


The Director ensures the development, elaboration, and application of KMHC’s financial processes, and the implementation of policies and procedures for the services under their responsibility. The Director ensures the responsibility of financial integrity in terms of accountability and has specific responsibilities that include the financial audit process and fixed assets.


The Managers of Finance, Plant Services and Food Service as well as the Information Technology Service report to the Director. The Director provides leadership and support to the three managers enabling them to carry out their respective mandates.

The Director supports management in the efficient use of resources by providing monitoring functions in the organization and ensuring the implementation of strategic and operational actions aimed at supporting all directors to maintain or improve performance while guaranteeing the quality and safety of services.


In summary, the Director assumes with their managers the management of the following services:

Financial management including:

• budget planning and control

• accounting

• purchasing and stores

• payroll

Operations including:

• plant services

• information technology

• food service

As a member of the senior management team, the Director initiates and participates in the global assessment of the needs of the hospital community and participates in the strategic planning process to meet these needs. The incumbent is required to establish and maintain effective working relationships amongst internal departments and with various agencies and organizations external to the hospital centre.

Job requirements

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or Business Administration (Master’s Degree would be an asset); and six to ten years of related experience in finance and management fields, preferably in a Quebec Ministry of Health establishment

•Strong knowledge of accounting practices, financial analysis and controls
•Ability to work with Engineers, Architects and building consultants
•Information Technologies and Information Management Background
•Emergency procedures experience
•Understanding of Security, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Patient Transport functions
•Understanding of Dietary production processes
•Excellent oral and written communication skills required
•Excellent critical thinking skills
•Demonstrated leadership ability
•Results-oriented
•Thorough knowledge of the mission, vision and values of KMHC
•Proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications, required
•Administrative, organization, time-management and decision-making capabilities

•Knowledge of the French language is an asset

SALARY:
In accordance with the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) reference Class 39 Annual Salary $87, 137 - $113, 278 (under review)
